Breaking: Minister orders police IG, NSCDC boss to relocate to northeast to protect schools

The minister of interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau has asked the inspector-general of police, Ibrahim Idris and Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu to relocate to the northeast.

The minister of interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, has asked the inspector-general of police, Ibrahim Idris, and commandant-general of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu, to relocate to the northeast.

This was contained in a series of tweets posted by the presidency on Wednesday, February 28.

According to the tweets, the security chiefs were asked to provide security to all schools in the liberated areas.

"The Min of Interior has directed the IG of Police and the Commandant General of NSCDC to relocate to the northeast and liaise with the theatre commander of #OpLafiyaDole and Govs of Yobe, Borno & Adamawa to ensure deployment of personnel to all schools in liberated areas in the states.

?The minister said that the directive has become necessary to forestall a re-occurrence of the attack on innocent school children," the statement read.

Meanwhile, the wife of the president of the Senate, Oluwatoyin Saraki, expressed confidence in the ability of the federal government to rescue the over 110 girls abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents at the Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe.

Saraki, who is the president of Well-being Foundation in Africa, expressed her optimism while fielding questions from newsmen during a visit to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly on Wednesday, February 28, in llorin.
